Amaryllis Here I Come

As I was sitting in Common Grounds, our dear friend Keane came and gave me an amaryllis bulb! I'm kind of nervous though. My first plant that I haven't killed is sitting in my office window...It's even continuing to grow and I replanted it in a pot I painted:

And now I have another plant to conquer! After reading the planting and care tips it seems easy to get it to flower, but there are a lot of steps after that. Apparently after it blooms, you cut it back and put it in your fridge for six weeks, but make sure there isn't an apple in the fridge - they will sterilize the bulb...what if Greg and I forget and put an apple in the fridge? I guess plants are my new test. If I can take care of a plant then I can take care of a dog and then....baby steps....

just sitting...in bliss

my new goal in life is to not live each week hoping and waiting for the weekend. i do that all too often. and then the weekend comes...and goes...and i don't feel as though i got the most out of it.

but this weekend is a 3-day weekend. which means complete bliss. that one extra day seems to make a world of a difference. greg and i woke up this morning and ate cereal on the couch, went for a walk that ended with us walking through the rain, ate lunch and watched curb appeal and are now at common grounds - the local coffee shop (in the photo)...complete bliss. its perfect - kind of rainy outside, the smell of coffee and enough time today to dive into my blog. now i can publish all the posts that i half started months ago.

get ready!

oh, and favorite quote of the week: "a three-day weekend is the gift that keeps on giving...you get a three-day weekend and then only a four-day week..." - laura (you could read her blog and more of these wonderful phrases if she were to ever start it!)
