GOODNESS

"Spoon. Savor. Stretch. Sigh. Trust calming notes of lavender to satisfy the senses and soothe the soul. Sweet."

i have found the most amazing yogurt EVER. and this is an accomplishment. i am a yogurt snob. my old favorite yogurt was Wallaby and its still good, but the flavors were so ho-hum - you know, the typical vanilla. my new favorite yogurt is Rachel's and the flavors are marvelous. You have anything from pomegranate acai to what i had today - plum honey lavender - which is perfect for this blog. it was fantastic - you have to try it. and they even have vanilla chai...no plain vanilla here.

the even bigger plus for this yogurt is the packaging and the intriguing copy. the tagline for the company is "wickedly delicious" and the whole website is chock full of useful information like the fact that using yogurt as a face mask dates back to ancient egypt or the that the yogurts are fortified with omega-3 dha which is a fatty acid that supports heart, brain and eye function.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BROTHER!

Today is the day my brother turned 30. Yes, I typed that correctly...30. To honor his age and wisdom, I thought I would post a tribute to him.

So, here's to the brother who would play catch with me and half way through forget that I was seven years younger and throw the softball as hard as he could to a little sister that would close her eyes and get a softball in the nose...

The brother who used to make me cry...

The brother that would always make up a reason for why I couldn't beat him at a game....until my 18th birthday when my only present was a card that said "I agree that you beat me twice at Scrabble"...

The brother that once walked around the entire grocery store explaining to me how a computer works...

The brother that called me the other day right before his achilles tendon surgery to tell me he was on happy hour medicine, kind of giggly, and really tired....and remembers nothing....

And the brother, who now, somehow makes me laugh daily and still acts like a small child...

I love you brother! Happy 30th Birthday!

This is it! I’ve done it!

This is my soap box...my lavender soap box. That small wooden crate that engulfs the perfect smelling soap that makes me sneeze if I were to ever use it. Not the box of soap that sits on the counter in your Grandmother's powder room collecting dust. It's the box that you don't want to throw away because it looks like a man just handed it to you off the sidewalk in Paris, so you keep it for treasures...or junk...whichever way you look at it.

But its also the soapbox that allows me to voice my opinion to the world...even if no one is listening. I write ads all day long that bombard the masses with more words...but this is my place to put what I want to talk about...not what a bank or a funeral home or a car dealership wants to talk about...but what I want to talk about.

I have this feeling that after this post, I will now become obsessed – but I think that’s a good thing. I’m the kind of person that has so many thoughts run through my head during a day that by the end of the day I simply forget the small things that happened. Instead, I start thinking about what will happen the next day and I totally lose the great moments that simply passed. For New Year’s I told myself that I would slow down this year and try to indulge in the small delights of life. And this is one of the steps. I know I am a little late in starting this, but hey, what better time than March to start on a resolution for the new year?!
